Hi,
I have a query regarding FEM modelling.
I attached a connection detail as well as my modeling method (assumption), modeled as Finite Elements.
So my question is how to assume in modelling that there are bolts located at certain nodes between the bottom end plate and bottom beam flange.
If you have any suggestion regarding my modelling, please do advise.
This is my first time modeling FEM on connections.
Please see attached file for details.
Thank you in advance.

Yes, the forces on those bolts can be used for the design.I think that your mentioned components are resisting the compression already.

Mr. Modestas. Thank you.
I have also a follow up question.
I assigned the dummy bolts as member so that I can get a report as beam end forces. Can I use this to design my bolt capacity as well?
Also, Is there a way that I can address that bottom flange of the web and bottom plates can resist compression? I think connecting the nodes and assigning it a rigid is not a great assumption. Just my opinion though.
Thanks
What you did in your model seems to be OK for me. Just you probably want to assign dummy material for the bolts only, but not for all model.
