I receive the following warning for all timber sections:
***WARNING: MEMBER 1 HAS TIMBER PROPERTY ASSIGNED TO IT AND E IS READ FROM THE DATABASE TABLE. CURRENT SPECIFIED VALUE OF E IS DIFFERENT THAN THE SAME IN THE TABLE AND HENCE IGNORED.
Can someone help explain what this means?
Thanks!
E for timber sections are read directly from the timber database provided within the software. When you assign a timber cross section from the database to a member, the corresponding material property for that chosen timber is also written in the command file. The material property has E as one of the properties along with others like density, poisson, alpha etc. If the E value defined in the input command file does not exactly match the E value for that material in the database ( could be due to rounding off due to unit conversion or could be due to user edits made to the E in the command file) you may get a warning like the one you mentioned. If there is a difference, the software will go by what is specified in the database tables.
So I chose the timber cross section from the database and I can see that it created the material in the command file. It looks like it is off by a factor of 1,000 (unless I'm miss-understanding the units). I tried to assign a different timber section and species and I get the same warning. If I edit the command file (multiple by 1,000) the error disappears. Can you check to see if this is program error or my error?
Thanks for the response.
