I am modeling a Flat slab in STAAD.Pro , my question is do i have to connect the columns with the plates with a Dummy members ( as shown in image 2 ) or the connection as shown below (in image 1 ) is enough for the column to be as a support for the slab ? image 1 image 2
If there is no beam supporting the slab, then you need not model it. So, image 1 is okay for this case.

Hi, I realize that, if I model flat slab with plate element and use pinned support at the column location, it will induce high shear stress, especially at the edge, do I need to include dummy elements to resolve such issue? The structure do not have beams.
I am actually modelling a slab supporting on piles and I think this should be similar to flat slab supporting on columns. The following shows the loading conditions and the results of out of plane shear.
