I don't know if anyone is experiencing the same trouble, but when I assign a structural rule to my design, the rule display correctly only to find that the text are missing.I will appreciate it if anyone can help me with this issue.
Hey Bear,
Thanks for your quick response but it doesn't seem to help.I can even fit my design to my view and select all,and still it doesn't select any text when looking at the advance selector tool.Only beams....Can I ask you to perhaps send me a screenshot of your settings in the structural rulles toolbox at the labels tabs?Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?Thank you very much in this regard!!!
Wynand,
I filed TR# 269116 for this issue, in the mean time, try to use the DEM as Bear suggests as workaround.

Plenty of people using it Steve, but the reality is that many companies will not upgrade just BS to V8i when they have so many other products, PSDS mainly, sitting back in XM. I'm sure you'd also get a lot more if someone was a little bit more involved in this area. ie. Ask for feedback. It's taken a long time to get any answer to post made when V8i BS was released and some still remain unanswered today.

Hi Bear, I was referring specifically to DVs in V8i, though I understand completely why some cannot upgrade since certain applications (such as PSDS) are not yet available.
It is difficult to get more attention these days given the amount of traffic in the Building forum relating to this topic, at least from a building support perspective. DVs are new to us as well, and there's still a lot we need to learn. A perfect example, ironically, is using drawing rules in DVs. I've never gotten them to work myself, so will be filing a TR against Structural (as well Mechanical). I think some of this is related to certain limitation in MicroStation itself, but I'll leave that to those more in the know!
Anyhow... I'm trying to come around this way more frequently myself, just to keep up with things. But it isn't easy, that's for sure, particularly since tthere's a lot of analysis posts to sift thru. But I will certainly do my best...
I understand the popularity of DV's, but I'm a bit concerned that we'll lose the ability to save a copy of the extracted file as we can with DEM. Are there plans to drop DEM all together and what is the likely timing for this?
Thanks,
