Hi,
I have general questions about STAAD pro commands. I know that In STAAD, it should have always more depth at start node for tapered sections while for end node, it should have less depth.
Due to this, it takes more time when we are doing complex 3D structure using tapered sections. Please advise that shall we have less depth at start node & more depth at end node in STAAD design.
If not, please advise the reason why should we not follow like that as some of my collogues are asking the reasons.
Thank you.
Hi Thiru,
There is no such limitation on modeling the tapered members. You can have less depth at the start node and more depth at the end node.
Column with Start & end node case - Tapered.STD
I have done analysis & design for simply supported columns. Here I have used tapered sections in which i have used higher depths at both start and end nodes. but results are different . Could you please check & advise?.
I am currently in discussion with our development team on this limitation. I'll keep you posted soon.
Ok.
The development team is looking into the possibility of removing this limitation on the tapered member modeling in the future versions.
