Hello Everyone.
I just want to know when we model water tank with top, bottom and conical dome.
after analysis we got result in terms of stresses for which we need to provide R/F.
Now can you please tell me if Sx*thickness give hope force and it is divide by dome thickness give hoop stress than if we repeat same process for calculation with Sy than it give meridonal stress?
Or Meridional Stress or Radial Stress are same???
i m going to attaches ss of my model with plate orientation.
For the plate local axes system in your model, Sx X thickness would give you the hoop force over a unit length. Similarly multiplying the SY by thickness would give you the longitudinal force per unit length. So reinforcements calculated would be required over that same unit length. Meridional stresses are same as longitudinal stresses although I have seen the term longitudinal stress used more often. Radial stress is different and as the name suggests, acts in the radial direction.
Thnakyou Sir.
Sir i have one more question.
When we need to analysis such kind of Structure the reinforcement we provide for hoop but in most of the cases longitudenal force is more as compare to hoop.
So can we neglect the longitudinal force or shall we go for it.
