It is not necessarily the mass load has to be directed in X or Z only - it can be applied in all three directions. Please refer to STAAD.Pro Help manual chapter TR.31.8.3 Mass Model Using Reference Load.
please tell me how to apply seismic load at y direction as it is showing error
If you are using the equivalent static seismic load generations, you can only apply the loads in the lateral direction X and Z.
