On a side note, is there any way to design cast-in plates? (to SCI P416)
Hi David, cl 3.8 of EN 1993-1-8 is NOT considered as RAM Connection adopts the guidance for fin plates as noted in SCI Publication P358. This publication limits the fin plates to a maximum size of 180mmx180x10mm thick and so this size does not fall within the long joint criteria. Nominal moment in the connection is considered in the shear checks as noted in Check 3 of the SCI guide.
Cast in plates to P416 is not available as yet but is on the development list.

Dear rtully14
I am unable to see where is the nominal moment considered. I added as MMax for shear connection, should not be M33?
Additionally, refer to other s/s, how do I add moment connection in RAM C? I clicked new joint but it does not allow me to add moment connection. I add an end plate but it says shear connection added.
The nominal moment is accounted for in the bolt group checks as SCI P358 Check 2 on page 115. Can you please attach your RAM Connection file to this query? If you want to add a moment connection such as an end plate please select either, from Basic Connections; Basic BEP Flush or Basic BEP Extended one-way or from Smart Connections; Smart BEP Flush or Smart BEP Extended one-way.
Attached a sample BCW endplate shear connection. I cannot find check for nominal moment in the report.

rtully14 , could you help me on this? Also for fin plate is transverse shear checked?
Hi David, the nominal moment is accounted for by braking the moment into vertical and horizontal shears on the bolts and checking the connection for these shear values.
rtully14 How about for BCW fully welded? I see the check does only cross sectional resistance of stiffener and member. Does it check welding?
