In RAM SS:
1. What is the default wall fixity (when connects to the slab)?
2. How can I release the wall fixity? I would like to have a pinned support for the slab (supported by wall).
In the Ram Frame analysis wall out of plane fixity is set in Criteria - General. For Ram Concrete analysis it's always considered fixed.
For example - if the wall is a precast wall and the concrete slab is cast in-situ to the side face of the wall, it is a pinned connection at the slab-wall joint.
In RAM Frame, I can model it correctly with pinned connection as per the method above.
But when I design the column (or other elements) in the RAM Concrete, what can I do to make sure the design is matching to the pinned connection I wanted?
Case 1 - Released top of wall fixity (pinned) - the column nearest to the wall will have column loads HIGHER than Case 2.
Case 2 - Fixed top of wall - the column nearest to the wall will have column loads LOWER than Case 1.
You can make the wall out of plane bending cracked factor small. Just don't do this if you are designing tilt-up walls with out of plane pressure loads.
