Is there a maximum file size limitation to RAM that's not published anywhere? I've tried looking but can't seem to find anything definitive. Twice, now, I've saved a large .rss file. The file seemed to save fine, and then when I later went to open it up I get the warning below. I definitely have plenty of space on my hard drive, and I'm working directly off my desktop, so I must believe it's a limitation of the program.
The first time this happened the file size was just shy of 5 GB. This file is around 5.5 GB. It's pretty frustrating to have to revert to a backup file for no apparent reason, when all I was trying to do is save some analysis results so I could come back to them later...
There is no specific file size limit, but we have a few users running into problems saving in v 17, or updating files that are worse when the files are large. We are trying to get to the bottom of it.
Meanwhile, make sure the working directory is local (your's looks like the default), that you have full rights to this as well as the model directory. If/when the problem occurs check the working directory for leftover files.

There is a new file - Save as archive tool in Ram Manager that can be used to save backup copies of the file without any analysis results, those should be much smaller to manage.
Okay, thanks Seth. Both times this happened after I tried to open a model with saved diaphragm forces and stresses. I don't know if that's related to the issue, but it definitely contributes to the large file size.
Indeed. I'll add some test files with large diaphragms for internal review.
