tapered I and User table I section

Hello all,
I have 4 questions regarding the tapered and UPT I Section and would appreciate it if someone can help me with:

1)Is there is any difference btw the tapered section and the UPT I Section tools, for defining I section with variable depth along the member length ??

2) Would I be able to get the utilization ratio for the defined section (using UPT I Section or Tapered tool) for AISC and Euro codes ?

3)If I used the Tapered tool to define my section, is there is a way to specify a user defined name for the section instead of the default tapered name ?

4) If I used the UPT I section, should I manually calculate the Torsional constant, Ay and Az parameters or by leaving them empty, STAAD will calculate them by itself ??  And If STAAD Does not calculate those values automaticaaly, can you provide me with some guidance on how to find those values ?

Kind regards,

  • Ay and Az are the shear areas of a section. In different design code this value has been calculated using different methodologies. So, to avoid any ambiguity in STAAD.Pro, it has been decided to leave these Shear Area columns as zero. The user should calculate the shear area values manually and enter the calculated value instead of Zero.

Regarding the nan (ind) issue, please share the STAAD model along with upt files for checking at our end.
