Hello All , I have some questions regarding the bearing length equation for flushed MEP In ram connection. There is differences btw different versions and would appreciate if someone can clarify the following points:
According to design guide 16 , Table 3_3 . The bearing Length ( Y )equation as indicated in image 1.
V11 Report: - 1) what I noticed here is that in v11 report, It considered the vertical edge distance (pf according to DG 16 ) (Lev according to RAM Concept report ) equal to S value. Even though, the Vertical edge distance is less than S value, and it should have been taken as 34.93 mm instead of 75.93 mm in the equation below. Image 2 & 3 . So in this version where this was a mistake by the software ?
2) in the equation it is taking bcf ( width of column flange instead of width of plate) why is that ?
v12 or 13 report ::
I could not understand here why it is using 2Lev instead of Lev in the equation , h1*(1/(2*Lev)) should be h1*(1/Lev). Would really appreciate if you can help me with this one here. and why it is taking bcf ( width of column flange instead of width of plate here as well ) Image 4&5

regards,
The files sent are not the same for both versions as one have the “Is column End” set to True and other in false. The column end check considers that the column will not prolong further from the beam so the bearing length for the top beam flange is limited. Therefore, the expected values will differ. Setting both values equal will show the results exactly the same, as expected.
