Can any body pls guide me if the design parameter 'MTYP' (in staad connect for AISC 360-16) is to be applied only for beams and columns which are part of an OMF or OCBF ? and not applied to other members ?

If you refer to the Appendix 6 of the AISC 360-16 specifications you will find guidelines on how the stiffness and strength of the stability braces are calculated depending on whether the member is a beam, column or a beam-column. You would use the MTYP parameter to classify the member accordingly.
