Hello all,
I am modelling a podium building in RAM which consists of 4 stories of wood atop a concrete podium. I have modelled the wood bearing walls as "Other Walls" to transfer gravity loads to the podium, so that I can import into Concept. I also had planned on designating portions of the "Other Walls" to be lateral (and adjusting stiffness) so I can easily calculate the applied lateral forces into the wood shear walls.
However, when I run the basic concrete gravity analysis, the analysis is getting hung up about halfway through and I get a "(Not Responding)" on the software. I've played around with the Direct/Sparse solver options to no avail. It's a large footprint with many wall jogs, most of which I've modelled due to proximity to edge of slab. Do you have any suggestions as to why the model won't run? I will attach the model via Secure Upload if it helps solve the issue
Thank you very much for your time and help,
Mike
Try clicking on RAM Concrete Analysis - Criteria - Analysis and then unchecking the box for "Skip-Load the Live Load on Non-Beam Line Beams" and changing back to the in-core direct sparse solver. I was able to complete the analysis here in the current version (17.01.01.05) after those changes. Eliminating the skip live loads cases will eliminate many live load cases that will not govern the design and reduce the amount of information that the program needs to store.
If the problem still occurs, please try updating to the current version.
