When we design columns in RCDC some times upper level columns have more reinforcement perhaps due to higher moments in upper storey . How to design columns so that lower storeys have equal or more reinforcement than upper level columns?
HiRCDC is a design software. it gets the forces form analysis software. So, the design is based on the forces (Axial , Moment and shear forces) available from analysis software. Column design is based on the axial forces and bending moment in the column. RCDC design the column for these axial force and moments.As explained in the earlier thread, reinforcement in upper level columns is might be due to lesser axial force and high moments in the column.We would suggest following option to get lesser reinforcement at upper columns,
Option-1
As column design is based on forces available from analysis, we would suggest you to model the structure in such a way that it will give lesser reinforcement at upper floor
Option -2
in RCDC even you get the higher reinforcement at upper floor, you can still copy and paste the higher reinforcement to columns having lesser reinforcement.

HOW WE CAN GET DESIGN CALCULATION OF THE FAIL COLUMN IN RCDC?
YES BUT MY QUESTION IS HOW WE KNOW THE FAILURE CALCULATION OF COLUMN? IN REPOTS TAB MENU > DESIGN CALCULATION. FROM THIS WE KNOW THE CALCULATION FOR WHICH COLUMN IS PASS. FOR FAIL COLUMN HOW WE CAN GET THE CALCULATION. SAME FOR THIS ETABS CAN GIVE THE CALCULATION.
IN FAILURE DIAGNOSTIC WE CAN GET ONLY REASON OF FAILURE BUT NOT GET THE CALCULATION

That is okay with the concept.It is clear at our end. But we are asking that how to know the actual calculation say e.g. it is showing joint(Shear) reason in failure diagnostic report, is there any way to have that detailed calculation as it is showing in ETabs even after the join shear stress exceeds the joint shear capacity or otherwise in case of joint (flexural) or any other criteria? By having that detailed calculation report, one can have the idea on how much the interaction ratio(actual/capacity) and identify the factors which can be rectified in subsequent analysis and design procedure..
