Hi. I am working on a steel building, and i have a couple of issues.
There is a column that shows a ratio of 13. And when i calculate it by my own taking from the model the nodal displacements for that combination, it should be aprox 0.54.
There are two other members that show "-nan(ind)". I have never seen that... no idea what the problem could be.
I tried running the model in version V8i, and i do not receive that error, and the ratio of the column is exactly what i calculated.
There is another member that shows a ratio of 1.34e+17.
Anyone can help?
Thanks!
Hello Saul,
In some cases we have found that users are using very old versions like V8i for which we have already stopped providing any kind of support. You may read the support policy in below link.
https://communities.bentley.com/communities/everything_else_community/bentley-support-policy/w/bentley-support-policy
Also in few cases, we have some known issues related to some specific versions. You may find that in be low link.
https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/36254/known-issues-in-previous-versions-of-staad-pro-connect-edition
So, if the version is known then we can immediately tell you the issue without doing an investigation as the issue is known. These are the main reasons we ask for updates and version numbers frequently.
As the file (STAAD file in this case) was not attached here, any solution is hard to provide. Yes, we may tell you some probable cause which may or may not correct for this particular scenario and the user may become more confused.
So, if the file is uploaded along with supported documents (if required) it becomes easy for us to investigate and get back to you quickly. Also regarding the issue described in original post, we already have our technical details of deflection calculation in help file.
However, we always try to provide the solution as soon as possible but that depends on the information shared by users in his post. Hope you understand my points. Have a great day!
Why does it always the answer is "what version? update?"I mean, is there no answer of why does it happen? what are we doing wrong? what is the program logic behind this so we can know what structural considerations make.
Try to upgrade to STAAD.Pro CE version 22.05.00.131 and see if this issue remains.
I am using Staad CONNECT Edition (21.03.00). I don´t have mi PC now but i can upload the model later.
Which STAAD version are you using? Could you attach the model?
