Is there any documentation or manuscripts for calculation verification ?
because there is a slight difference between the result of ETABS and RCDC (ETABS need more rebar area then RCDC)
Hiplease click on below link for validation sheets,
ACI -M Validation sheets
https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/47574/aci_5f00_318m_5f00_validation-sheetsPlease make sure that the design settings in both the software are same. in case of column, the of effective length factor should be same in both the software.if you want to compare E-tabs and RCDC result, please share E-tabs design output and RCDC file for comparison.
Hi
Could you provide the model corresponding to these validation sheets to me?
or where can I find these model ? (StaadPro or Etabs model with RCDC file)
could you provide validation sheets for Column Validation (special Frame) ?
In RCDC help document there are some description about joint shear and flexural strength of column ,but the validation of column is IMRF so there is no such part...
I also want to know how RCDC check flexural strength of column ?
Because the beam and column design is separated in RCDC , how the program can get moment capacity of beams ?
Hiwhen RCDC reads the column geometry and forces, it also reads the beam information which is required for joint checks. it includes the beam geometry and end forces. it also identify the angle at which beam resting on column in plan. Beam in plan angle w.r.t. column is required to calculate beam capacity and resolve as per column major and minor direction.Presently validation document for IS code is available to below link,
Column Beam Joint check_Validation document_IS 13920 -2016

The process and steps explained in above document is almost same in ACI code. It will give you fair idea about joint check and how it is handled in RCDC.
we will try to create a validation sheet for joint checks like flexural and shear check as per ACI code. if possible we will give the document next week.
The strong column and weak beam check is related to the moment capacity of beam & column , which is related to the reinforcement arrangement
RCDC use geometry and force to estimate the bending moment capacity , if engineer use larger steel area for final design , I think RCDC can't reflect the result of this change...
is there any update for flexural and shear check as per ACI code ?
HiRCDC calculates the Beam capacity as per Area of steel calculated as per available bending moment. The detailing of the reinforcement is done as per best possible arrangement of available diameter. Generally area of steel provided would always be more than area of reinforcement required. if user provides much more steel than the actually arrived from available diameters, then it is not captured in joint check as it doesn't read reinforcement provided in beam from beam design file.attached is the Joint check validation document for your reference.
/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/5932/Column-Beam-Joint-Check-Validation-Document_5F00_ACI-38M-2014.zipin the latest version of RCDC (9.4.0.128 OR 9.4.1.6) beam capacity is calculated slightly on higher side and it is now corrected in the new version ( V 10.0.0). the New version will be available by mid of February.
