When running the shear wall module, The snip below shows the reinforcement that RAM selected. with #6@9" and #4@12" OC and the section passes. But when I select another bar pattern with more area of steel, the moment capacity drops significantly? Then I reselect the steel bar pattern of #6 and #4 and then the original design does not work.
Are you using version 17.01.01.05 or something older? Do you have wall out-of-plane stiffness considered? I ask because this indicates a design at 90 degrees i.e. perpendicular to the wall major axis, which is kind of unusual.
I am using 17.01.01.05 and this is the Criteria used that resulted in these forces. I have tried removing and redoing the section cuts multiple times and if I consider out of plane I get similar problems. I have also changed my mesh to be 2 instead of 4 and that also did not work.
I have uploaded CHS New Slab w. DP12.06.20.rss Thank you for your help
Not sure what went wrong, but I keep getting an error with your upload, like it's an incomplete or corrupted file.
I reuploaded CHS New Slab w. DP12.09.20.rss
That one runs for me. It does appear to be an axs reversal type of issue. The large moment on that cross section should be major axis (Beta = 0) and the capacity in the major axis is OK, but when the section is rechecked it switches to moments in the minor axis which would cause a failure. The same ratio as I see in the interaction surface plot. I'll try to find a solution that sticks.
I ended up deleting all the section cuts in that wall group (#5) and then it's behaving fine now (results are on the 0 degree axis).
I did rerun the modules (Steel, Frame) first. I'll send you a link for the revised file.
