Index was outside the bounds of the array. Error

Sir,

My model consists of 45 floors. When I export the model to the latest RCDC which is RCDC 09, it is showing

"Index was outside the bounds of the array."-ERROR. What should be done in this case?

  • Can you please upload the file here? It seems some values are not within the prescribed limit or some non-zero values are defined as zero. If you can upload, we will investigate and get back to you.

If you do not want to share the file in public forum, you can create a service request using the steps described in the below link.

    1. Sure, pfa link of  the file. I also carried out some experiments, in which I gradually reduced slab numbers in Etabs, and then at 24th slab (From 45 slabs), I was finally able to see walls and redesign them.

             2. Also, I would like to ask whether we can change wall sizes (specifically Length) in RCDC? As its quite impossible to model exact same length             of the wall in ETABS. In RCDC 7 this option was available but not in this version

  • Hi

we have observed that you need equal spacing reinforcement in wall thus following option is selected in design settings,

in reinforcement settings, there is no need to change spacing of Zone-1, Zone-2 and Mid zone. when you select above option, it auto considered the equal spacing for all zones.

even above spacing is not changed, RCDC will give closest spacing for all zones.

modifying wall length if it is part of combined wall, is not allowed in RCDC. As overlapping walls are identified as combined wall, changing length might impact the overlapping of wall. it might also disturb the geometry of combined wall, thus changing length of combined wall is restricted.

regarding the error issue, please let us know the RCDC version. As number of floors and columns are more, RCDC taking more time to read geometry and it is also depend on the system configuration.

we have read the mdb file in RCDC 09.04.01.06 (latest version), no issue identified reading file.
    one more suggestion,
when you add floor titile in Etabs, try to avoid special character ( - , + etc) in the title.
