Hi, I get the following error when running analysis in Steel Beam module:"Illegal framing configuration detected on beam -1". The error is caused at the wall.
Several things are happening in the area in question. It is inside corner of the building where the basement wall turns the corner. Also, there is an expansion joint at each end of the wall. See screenshot below.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, I'm having the same error when creating the framing tables in RAM Frame. The error has appeared after adding walls down to a lift pit. Reading this post, I've now split the slab edge so that I can offset the slab edge from the wall ends - however this hasn't resolved the error. I wondered if someone might take a look in case there's something else I've missed (I'll upload a file to the Secure Fil Upload). Thanks in advance.
Hello VAEngr,
The problem here is in the slab edges. They help you distribute the loads, therefore, they need to be modeled over a beam or a wall. The slab edge that you have here is not directly assigned over the wall, so instead of doing that use the overhang tool. Also for this same slab edge, it is not over all the wall element and this will cause the Illegal framing error message.
Try using the slab edge over whole perimeter and then assign other slabs on top using the change priority.
I placed beams parallel to the wall and offset the edge of slab from those beams, but the error has not gone away.
You have the slab edge of the wall assigned offset from the wall. I would recommend to use the slab overhang instead, and re assign the other slab edges that connect to this one to make sure a proper connection.
