I am using Concept to distribute shear via a rigid diaphragm to shear walls. The output shows r, s and z axes. Can you describe which are along length, width and height of walls?
Mesh input - walls - fixed properties: does this mean there is fixity in the weak direction of the wall? My output appears to be giving moments in the weak direction. If I just model as shearwall and not fixed, do I only get moments in the strong direction of the wall?
Thank-you.
There is an axis shown on the reaction plots to help. For 2D (planar) walls it's like so:
You can control the out-of-plane fixity of walls. Walls that are not fixed near will not have significant Mr reactions.
See chapter 34 Plotting Results - Section 34.3 Reaction for more.
