Beam stresses in staad

Hi, how can we read Hollow section beam stresses in stress diagrams, exactly where the stresses change from compressive to tensile.

Thanks in advance..

  • You can look at the Beam Results > Beam Stress page and that plots tensile and compressive stress on the profile. The blue color is used for tensile stress ( -ve value) and red color for compressive stress (+ve value). Within the Select Section Plane dialog box, you have option to use the slider or to type a distance to find out stresses at that location. The Beam Combined Axial and Bending Stresses table would give you the stress values at multiple point along the member length. You can also get the Max Tensile and Compressive Stress reported along with the location, for each load case by going to the Max Stresses tab within the same table.
