Hello,
Could any of the members advice how you can model settlements in slab-on-grade within STAAD ?
Thanks,
Shivam
If the model includes plates, you have to use the "ENFORCED" and "ENFORCED BUT" type of supports to apply the support displacement load. Please, find the attached model where support displacement loading was used together with PLATE MAT. In the model the load case 3 is followed by a PERFORM ANALYSIS and CHANGE commands and subsequently support specifications are changed to PLATE MAT.Support displacement example.std
Modestas,
Thank you fro your prompt response. I have used plate elements to model the slab and provided plat mat. I got an error in the model stating that this does not work for FEA elements.
I want to induce artificial settlement of 75mm in my model to assess the bending stresses, as the soils where the slab is located are reactive.
Do you have any advice ?
You may use a support displacement load. You can find the details on this load type in the STAAD.Pro Help section Technical Reference of STAAD Commands > TR.32 Loading Specifications > TR.32.8 Support Joint Displacement Specification.
