Hi Team,
The horizontal bracing member which is specified as 'Member Tension' gets designed for compression when IS 800 LSD code is used. But the same member is designed for tension when AISC 360 LRFD is used. Why is this difference? Can someone explain and fix this? I have attached snaps for reference. Without any design parameters, the analysis shows only tension on the member highlighted.
Please refer below link for detailed explanation.

Thanks for the reference article. However, my question was not about slenderness failure. The issue is member with same 'Member Tension' specification takes up compression for design using IS 800 LSD against tension in AISC 360.
Hello,
I have tested your file with both the codes in latest version 22.06.00.138 and getting tension for both the case as shown below.
Here, for both the cases slenderness is the guiding. Now for members with tension, if you do not assign any TMAIN parameter value, the program will calculate as per default value set. Please refer the snaps to know the ratio calculation reported.
Thank You Abhisek for the verification. I think the issue is resolved in the STAAD version you have used. I tried the same running in both SS6 and Connect edition update 4 (22.4.0.40) with compression in IS 800. even with TMAIN 400. Can you please let me know the title of the version you have? Is it connect edition update 6? I'm not able find it with the version number so that I can try running in that version. Thanks again
Hello, Sorry for my typo. The version number is 22.6.00.138. It is STAAD.Pro Connect Edition update 6. I have edited in the above also.
Cheers!
Thank you!!
