Hi,
I am checking spread footing design with RAM Foundation and STAAD Foundation Advanced. When the available development length for rebar is less than the required development length for rebar, the RAM Foundation increases the minimum reinforcement required by the required development length of rebar/available development length of rebar. It looks like STAAD Foundation does not perform this increase, and does not give you a warning either. Is there a way to work around these in STAAD Foundation Advanced? Thanks.
The reason why development length is not used as a condition for the footing length in SFA is because it is assumed that the required development length can be achieved through bends and hooks.
