When we design two crossing beams in RCDC which intersect at a point , one of the beams is split into two and the other one is shown as single beam. Which one of these beams rests over the other one. I noticed the beam which is split into 2 has higher reinforcement than the other one.
Which beam will be primary beam?
HiRCDC identifies the beam based on the support condition. it identifies the horizontal beams first and then the vertical beams. for this type of cases of two crossing beams, the higher depth beam is generally identified as primary beam.if the both beams are same, generally shorter span beam is identifies as primary beams.if the identification of beam for this type of situation doesn't suits user requirements, there is a option to change the beam end condition in "beam propagation"RCDC allows user to change the beam type. the beam which is identified as one part can be divided in to two parts and beam which is identified as two parts can be convert to one beam.steps,1. split the one par beam first to make it secondary2. merge the two part beam to make it primary

i use RCDC 11.06.00.56 but i'm unable to find an option to merge the beams back... any support is much appreciated
Hi,
Please go through the attached video.

Thanks Abhijeet, much appreciated... was having a hard time without using the 'SELECT GROUP' option... this video made it so easy
also there's a request.
Nowadays we work with multi screens PDF and as it can be seen, any prompt which needs to open a new (separate) window, opens up in the default screen (1), this is not only in RCDC, but even in STAAD few prompts pop up in the main display ... is it possible that we can have the 'Remember windows position' (or something like that) enabled so that new prompts/windows can by default open in the screen where the program is loaded and also can remember the position where the user has finally placed it?
