I want design the connection of this truss as bolt connection, for Staad Pro Connect Edition Update 5 in section of connection design using AISC 360 code i don`t see bolt connection for trusses, do i have to install RAM CONNECTION stand alone software to design this connection or Connection design in Staad Pro Connect Edition update 5 is capable of doing that but iam not aware of that?
Bolted connections for trusses are not available in RAM Connection as of now.
ok can you help with a hint of doing that welding connection of roof trusses in Staad Pro Connect Edition
First of all, you need to assign the member attributes to the truss members. This is required for the software to understand where is a chord and where is a web member of the truss. To do this, select all chords in your model, then right click on the screen and select 'Add Member Attribute' option. In the opened dialog set 'Attribute Name' as 'MEMBERTYPE' and 'Attribute Values' as 'CHORD'. Repeat the same process to the web members of the truss, just set 'Attribute Values' as 'BRANCH'. Then perform the analysis and go to the Connection Design workflow. Select AISC 360-16 code and assign the 'Chord Branches' connection template from the Smart Connections.
this means all members ,top, bottom, vertical and diagonal members should be assigned as truss members like this?
after assigning this, then after this i add member attribute in member type?
There is no need to assign Truss specification to all members. You just need to assign member attributes as explained in my previous post. When modeling a Truss, usually TRUSS specification is being assigned to web members only, leaving top and bottom chords as regular members.
