If you have a custom wide flange sections which do not taper, then you should create those sections in the User Provided Table (UPT). If you have a UPT table which consists several same shape sections, then the optimization will be performed based on those entered sections. Thanks for your quick reply. In reality my sections are not tapered, they are user defined I sections. I have a list of them and need to optimise the structure based on this list. I have used tapered I section since I am not aware if there is another way to achieve it.

Member optimization feature for Tapered sections is not implemented in STAAD.Pro.
