RAM Gusset Connection

Ram Connection for STAAD I assume. It sounds like you have a brace that is a rod section and it happens to be in compression for one or more of your combinations. Ram Connection is expecting only tension forces in such a rod brace. If it really is in compression then ignore the warning, the rest of the calculations are OK. If it was supposed to be in tension, recheck the analysis, make sure you have the loads in the correct direction, the correct tension-only settings, etc.

Thanks for the additional knowledge..

I also tried changing the rod brace to a hollow pipe brace and had the plate welded across the pipe diameter. This cleared the warning.
