There are times I want to hide, not delete, certain nodes, elements, members when building a model - I may determine I want to use these again therefore I do not want to delete. I know I can "comment" them out using an asterisk in the STAAD editor. Is there a quick and easy way to do something similar in the GUI, the model interface?
If so, is there a way for STAAD to quickly hide corresponding nodes if I hide elements and members at the same time?
For instance, Beam 101 may start from Nodes 10001 to 10002 and Beam 102 from Nodes 10002 to 10003. Assume Nodes 10001 and 10003 are part of other beams I do not want to hide. If I hide Beams 101 and 102, can STAAD also hide the middle 10002 node at the same time?

To hide any entity (beams, plates etc.) choose everything else other than those that you do not want to see and choose the option as shown below. Any nodes connected with those hidden entities that are not connected to other entities will be automatically hidden as well.
Sorry, I wasn't clear in my initial question. That just hides them from view in the model. I want to not include certain nodes, elements, members in the model.
In the Editor, just as how I can comment out a plate: *3001 100001 100002 100003 100004....and it won't be modeled, can I do this in the GUI as well? Or do I always have to comment out the specific lines in the editor?
Unfortunately there is no way to do this using the GUI. Commenting those out using the editor is the only way.
