Hello,
Please, I carried out a design for an RC beam in staad connect edition. On checking the design
output from RCDC, I discovered a particular beam span has 'area of reinforcement required: Asreq'
higher than the Asprov. In other words, the Asreq = 873mm2; while the Asprov (4Y16) = 804. But
the beam was reported as OK from the design output. Is there an explanation for this?
Though, from my manual check of the Asreq, the beam is okay; However, staad calculation report seems
not correct.
NB: I have experienced similar situation in designing slab in RCDC. The calculation report showed the slab
limiting L/d was less than the actual L/d but slab reported the slab was okay in deflection based on the calculation
report output. However, I did a manual check and also realized the slab was okay in deflection.
Please, is there an explanation for these errors in the RCDC calculation sheets?
