I am working on a project and my teacher keeps on saying that the plate and nodes are not connected in this bridge deck that i am designing and I'm having trouble as to what he means by that. I am also having trouble in applying the loads as per IRC 6:2017 for a 3 way carriageway. Could someone modify this file or help me out . i have attached the file below.deck201.std
It would be best to ask the teacher on what exactly does he mean :) In general, forces between the members and plates are transferred through the common nodes only. So you need to create plates and divide the members, so that each member's node would be the same node as a node of the plate. You can find some more details about the plate/beam connectivity topic here: https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/20702/connectivity-issues
hey thanks for answering to my question:) i have certain communication issues with the teacher else i wouldn't reach out like this. I don't know a lot of people who are experienced in staad either hence i at the moment don't really have an alternative. but i really appreciate your help anyway
