backup files are not saved in the STAAD folder anymore

I used to get .sbk backup files in the same folder of the STAAD file in case I needed to get back a previous model. Now I see no such files, the zip backup file that created in current STAAD version will be gone if i close the file which means no backup file after closing it !!! why is that and what kind of backup is this??

  • The process for creating backups has been revamped. You no longer would have to use sbk files, rename those, take out portions of it to get back a STAAD.Pro model. You need to create restore points instead. Please check out the documentation in the screenshot below which contains details on the whole process. The Autorecovery.zip file is only a safety net that would come into play if the program terminates abnormally. In that case you would be given the opportunity to recover the data from that file when you open the model the next time.
