RCDC Failure

Is there any article that would cite the meanings of the different failures in RCDC

It is difficult to know which part of the member to adjust since calculation is not provided for failed members.

Failures such as:

TOP: BM-detailing

Shear Detailing

  • Hi,

    Detailing failure occurs in beams for following reasons;

    1. When the Ast required is less than the max Pt but the Reinforcement configuration i.e. the max diameter + max number of bars for a given beam width has reached maximum possible; then in this case RCDC shows detailing failure.
      1. The maximum diameter restriction comes from below criteria
        • The Maximum diameter restriction set in the Design settings form.
        • Column Dimension / 20 ---- this is specifically only for Ductile beam design for IS Code and ACI Code.
    2. Also, for shear detailing failure, when the minimum spacing is reached and still the Shear requirement is not satisfied, then there is detailing failure.

    Thanks.
