Hi All,
I was carrying out analysis on a cantilever after installing the new V10 of microstran and it kept failing linear analysis.
So I re-installed and trialled a 'dummy' member being 10m long with a UDL of -5 and a fixed support at node 1. I also used library values for the member section 610UB125 and material STEEL.
It appears as though the linear analysis does not even commence as the dialog box that appears has no text/descriptions. then shortly after it closes and I receive the 'linear analysis failed' dialog box.
Can someone please assist with this error? I've re-installed 3 times, but perhaps I've not purged my laptop of all the microstran files or something?
I've attached screenshots and the model.
Does anyone else have this issue?Cantilever Failed.msw
The file runs fine for me. Version 10.1.0.3, Windows 10 (I have the Advanced license, but should not matter).
Do you have the same version? Reinstalling is the first step.
Hey Seth,
Yes I have the same version, windows 10 and as mentioned I've re-installed it 3 times now and I still cannot get it to work.
it's really frustrating. :(
I saw your service request, but the file you included there still works fine for me. I tried linear and non-linear analysis.
Here are some settings to check, compare to what you have:
If those are the same, then we would need to investigate what about your machine or Windows user credential is causing some problem. Can you test as administrator?
Hi Seth,
I've run in administrator and still no luck.
My settings are the same as yours.
I know it's my computer or installation because my file works for everyone else. Also I had been using V10 for about a week with no problems and partially through my tutorial class it stopped working.
Interestingly it randomly ran the linear analysis just a few mins ago, but only once and then would no longer run. (open close re-try etc.)
Anything I open won't run linear (such as templates or standard structures), anything I create from scratch won't run linear.
The following is some more information
- When I've uninstalled I've cleared my C-drive (inc. registry files)
- I've run through administrator
- I've run offline
- Windows 10 64 bit, HP spectre laptop, 8GB Ram, i5 CPU
- Disabled onedrive and re-ran
- reinstalled connect client
haven't been able to get it working.
Hi Jess,Microstran creates a bunch of intermediary files that linear analysis depends on with various file extensions (see below screenshot)-
Please try the following:
1 - Place your *.msw file locally on your machine - try a different folder-- say your Desktop.
2 - If enabled, an overzealous Antivirus program may find exception to the file extensions above and remove them as soon as they are created. Disable and try again.
