I understand that the analysis methods are different between the two modules, however the difference in axial gravity dead loads between the two can be drastic in some cases. What is the primary reason for this in the program?
Results from changing the beams at the Roof from Gravity to Lateral w/ pinned connections.
I knew it was something so simple. Thanks Seth!
Take a look at the deflected shape in RAM Frame. You'll see the "cantilever" slab at the roof deflecting a lot under gravity load because those gravity beams are not considered in Ram Frame analysis, but the gravity beams are an essential part of the support for the 2-way slab. Those gravity beams are considered in the Ram Concrete analysis, and the deflections are much more reasonable there. This also changes the overall load path to the columns, So, proceed with the Ram Concrete analysis or make those beams all lateral.
