I am trying to assign Cap Plate connection to the beams parallel to Z axis and Beam-Girder connection to connect beams parallel to X to those parallel to Z. However, I am not able to assign any of the connections because RAM Element is saying the joints are not compatible. I have tried remodeling the structure using continuous beams for he beams parallel to Z, as well as using rigid offset in Y direction to place the beams above the columns but none of them seems to work.
What is the right step to model and assign such connections? I know I can manually transfer the forces to RAM Connection stand alone to do the connection design but I'm trying to avoid that if possible
The RAM Element file (FSDG.retx) has been uploaded to the secure file upload.
Hello Joe,
I can-t see the file in the Secure File Upload. Please provide your file using next link: https://bentley.sharefile.com/r-r8332ea9cc6364411b918fc84d5f117e6 or attach it to the forum.
Hi Enrique, the file has been uploaded to the provided link. The option to attach a file to the forum is not working for me, please attached screenshot
Hello Joe, no worries got your file from the link.
The column cap needs to not have those intersecting beams in order to create the connection.
Also in order to have it, the beam on top of the column needs to be a continuous member. This also applies to the beam-girder
