Hi all, is there a way to apply concentrated member loads as shown in the image below using STAAD? This is a plan view of a cylinder, the blue marks show each beam division and each beam is 1m deep by 0.5m wide. Please advise. Thanks.
I think you should be able to achieve this by using the Inclined Load option in the Nodal Loads:
Thanks for your response. Is there a way of adding it to the center of the beam and not the node?
You may use a concentrated member load, but it cannot be applied in inclined direction - you would need to apply the load in 2 components in the X and Z global direction.
Thanks, I'll try the option using member load. I'm guessing some of the loads have to be applied in both the positive and negative direction. Is this correct?I tried the nodal load method and this is what I get for my moment. Not sure if this moment diagram makes sense. What do you think? The ring beam is sitting directly on a plate wall.
My apologies, I forgot that you can apply the Concentrated Load on a member with respect to its local Y or Z axis, so that should work in your case. Just you need to set the d1 parameter with a distance to member's center.
