Hi all, is there a way to apply concentrated member loads as shown in the image below using STAAD? This is a plan view of a cylinder, the blue marks show each beam division and each beam is 1m deep by 0.5m wide. Please advise. Thanks.
I think you should be able to achieve this by using the Inclined Load option in the Nodal Loads:
Thanks for your response. Is there a way of adding it to the center of the beam and not the node?
My apologies, I forgot that you can apply the Concentrated Load on a member with respect to its local Y or Z axis, so that should work in your case. Just you need to set the d1 parameter with a distance to member's center.
ok - I applied it along the local x and z axis of the member like this. This is the load and this is the result I got from it. Is this okay?
I'm guessing I can also apply it to the local x and z of the member as I show in my Dec 1 reply (left side image) above?
Yes, a load can be applied along the local X, Y and Z axes. Attached is a simple file to illustrate this.8358.str2.std
Thanks Kris
