While designing a building with dynamic analysis parameters as per IS 13920 design code, the following errors/warnings/notes are observed. Kindly clarify the same at the earliest. The version used for design are STAAD.Pro V8i (SELECT Series 6) 20.07.11.90 & STAAD.Pro Connect Edition 21.00.01.12.
1. *** NOTE: SOME OF THE BEAMS CONNECTED TO THE COLUMN NO. 101 ARE NOT DESIGNED. ONLY SHEAR FORCE FROM ANALYSIS WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR SHEAR DESIGN. Query: What is the impact of this comment in design and analysis result. How to overcome this note/warning.
2. *** WARNING: DEPTH OF BEAM # 3710 SHALL PREFERABLY BE LESS THAN THE 1/4TH OF CLEAR SPAN AS PER CL 6.1.4 ASSUMING IT TO BE SPANNING BETWEEN SUPPORTS. IF NOT, USE COMBINE PARAMETER. Query: This warning comes up in a beam which gets divided into multiple segments due to connection of other beams. Even providing a COMBINE command does not help to overcome this comment.
3. ***WARNING: SINGLY OVER-REINFORCED SECTION BEING BRITTLE SHOULD ALWAYS BE AVOIDED IN EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT DESIGN. MODIFY SECTION DIMENSION. Query: With the external moments from analysis result the beam may be designed as a doubly reinforced beam for the same beam size. As per IS 1893-2016 and IS 13920-2016 it is not mentioned that a beam should be designed as Singly reinforced. This warning leads to highly uneconomical designs.
4. ***ERROR: VALUE OF EUDL FOR MEMBER # 1015 IS DIFFERENT THAN OTHER MEMBERS COMBINED THAT ARE SPANNING BETWEEN SUPPORTS. Query: Providing a GLD command is not overcoming this warning. Calculating a EUDL value for each beam and applying the same on each individual members is a tiring and highly inefficient use of time, which contradicts the use of a software for design and analysis.
5. *** WARNING: DESIGN IS INCOMPLETE FOR MEMBER # 1015 IF MESSAGE IS ISSUED WHILE DESIGNING THE MEMBER PLEASE CHECK WHETHER FULL MEMBER LIST IN THE COMBINED MEMBER IS PROVIDED FOR DESIGN.
Query: Even though the full member list is provided in the COMBINE command this warning arises. For a comparison purpose, same building is modelled & checked in ETABS software and there is no such issues as mentioned above.
This is the word format of my query
Hello,
First of all I would like to clarify which version of IS13920 you are using? As the older version like V8i does not have 2016 version but in point 3 you have mentioned the same. It would be great to investigate if you can upload the file.
However, some general comments are as follows.
1. It seems some of the beams connected to the member 101 is not designed properly. Please check if check code beam has been provided for all the member connected to 101.
2. Combine parameter should help. There are some guidelines on the use of Combine parameter in help file. Please go through it and check the issue.

4. Need the file to investigate.
5. Need the file to investigate.
Also, I would recommend you to use STAAD Advanced concrete design (aka RCDC) for concrete design to get a more user friendly and complete output. You can refer below link to know more.

Thanks a lot, I will upload the file as soon as possible
