Dear friends,
STAAD Pro reads only the moment at the element start point to design tapered steel section elements. Is there any way to fix it? Thanks
Could you please provide a bit more details on this? An illustration would be helpful. Also, please attach that STAAD.Pro model as well.
Here is an example
Hello,
Which version you are using? Can you please upload the file?
As far as I know, STAAD designs every tapered member for 13 sections and report the most critical one. It is not true that it will always report the higher moment. As the section size is varying along the length, the capacity of the member will be different at 2 edges. Now, it may happen that actual moment to capacity ratio is higher at the end where moment is less as the section capacity is also small. So, please double check that part and if still you seems there is an issue share the model with all relevant details.
I'm using STAAD Pro V8i (Series 6). I checked for prismatic members and it did the same thing. however, the same model in STAAD CONNECT shows accurate results.
STAAD.Pro V8i is not supported anymore. We highly recommend in using the most recent STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition versions. The current version is 22.08.00.175 so if you are not using it yet, you should consider upgrading to it.
Thank a lot. It works fine with the new editions
