why adding a node on a beam shows different result when analyzed.

when i add node in continuous beam they result are changed in analysis and design i get different utilization ratio.

without node beam are failed and by add node beam became passed .why ?

  • In STAAD we design the analytical members. Whenever you insert a node, the length of the member alters. Like if you insert the node at midpoint, the length will be half. When the length changes, it affects the slenderness ratio, compression capacity etc. which will in turn change the design ratio.

So, when ever you are inserting a node and want to use the full physical length you need to use parameters like Lx, Ly, Lz etc. Please  refer the help file to know more about the parameters you need to use.
