CANTILEVER SLAB AND SLABS SUPPORTED WITH 3 BEAMS IN RCDC

Hello as we know, RCDC detects slabs if we have a closed loop of beams, then

1.Is there any trick to model a cantilever slab in RCDC? if yes, then how?

2.case two how can i create a slab supported with 3 beams in RCDC?

if there is any OnDemand course about the mentioned scenario please help me with a link

  • Hi,

RCDC reads the beam-column geometry from the analysis file and identifies all closed regions as slabs.

All the regions that are detected within the closed geometry of beams will be identified as slabs. So no slab will be detected for a beam geometry of 3 beams.

The span type and the design continuity of each slab is also computed for each slab and displayed.

    1. Slab continuity is detected based on 'edge-conditions'. RCDC works out the spanning type (1-way, 2-way or cantilever) and the continuity of each and every slab.

There is an option to add a slab in RCDC and you can provide the Lx and Ly of the slab and also the loading on it. RCDC will perform the design part of the added slab but however the slab that is not detected from the analysis file but added in RCDC itself will bot be shown in layout or any drawings generated from RCDC.

Refer attached short video for reference.

  • Thank you,one more question

In many cases you may find a cantilever has shorter walls on the edge of the cantilever, those walls may act as handrail, whose loading is a line load(kn/m)

How can i add that type of load on the added cantilever?

  • Hi, Pls refer attached video for your reference.

  • Ok from the attached picture below that means Lx is 5430mm and Ly is 1520mm,The St Loc and End loc is on side B means from 0 to 5430mm?

If yes, then what about the wall load on side A and C as shown on the attached picture
