Hi there,
I'm modelling a steel frame in STAAD and looking to include c channel girts in the model. The girts (red lines) are to be located on the front face of the column with wall panels (green line) attached as shown below. I plan on using meshed plates for the wall panel and channels from section database as the girts. My question is how do I model both the girts and channel so they are on the face of the column and channel respectively.
Thanks.
Hello,
It can be done using offset option available in STAAD.
I have creates a sample model attached here. please check.

The offset options are available within specification tab. You need to use beam and plate offset options here.
Thank you for your response. I will give it a try and let you know if I encounter any issues.
Hi, I did give it a try and it worked well (no errors) for an unmeshed plate. I then figured I needed to mesh the plates so the loads will go directly to the purlins for the purlin check. When I meshed the plates, I got an error saying the plates are badly shaped. My plates are meshed about 1m by 1m so I don't understand why the error comes up. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem? Thanks.
Attach the model please.
