STAAD version 22.08.00.175, RCDC 11.01.00.18. I have modelled a building in STAAD. I was able to design beams , columns , footings using RCDC. But when I import the STAAD file for designing slab, I am getting a error: Error in Model. Cannot detect slabs. Later on it shows layout of slError slab design.STDabs. after clicking ok, file closes. What's the solution for this?
I increased the circular column dia to 0.5m. I am able to import the slabs to RCDC.
5758.Demo_2.STD
Thanks! It's magic!! I too tried that, worked. But why so? I am interested to know why it was not working earlier? What happened after changing the size of columns?
Hi Mr. Sunil,
Yes. When we change the diameter of circular column to 500mm or even 425mm, the slabs are identified.
The reason is that the Junction formed between the 2 beams > the diameter of the Circular column.
You can modify the circular column diameter only for the Slab module in RCDC for the purpose of slab identification logic.
Further; you can use the actual diameter of the circular column for designing the Columns / Beams / Foundations as per requirements.
We will try to enhance the logic of slab identification in RCDC in future releases of RCDC.
Thanks.
Thanks Nidhi for clearing basic behind it!!
Just adding one thing over here, changing column diameter is not going to hamper the slab design.
Yes, It will not hamper. Thanks.
