Why beam to column web end plate moment connection for W shape column is not available in RAM connections ? Only we have column as rectangular hollow section (snap below). Can we expect this w shape column web connection in future updates?
I had a delegated connection design project a few years ago where the EOR used endplates to the W-column webs at braced frames. Basically just like double clip angles welded to the supported beam/gusset plates and bolted to the support. Of course, access can be an issue.
I don't know exactly how an end plate would work in a column web connection. Would you box in the column with plate or connect directly to the web? Are there AISC examples you can cite?
