I have always tried to design connection between tapered beam and column in RAM connection (Integrated) to BS 5950 or EC3 but it looks like neither of these codes is supported. Is there a work around about this?
The same thing applies to gusset plate connections for connecting bracings to the primary members. Any workaround?
Regretfully no, not all codes can design tapered members. You can see capabilities of supported sections in RAM Connection Manual (RAM Connection - File - Help - RAM Connection Manual (PDF)) on chapter 2.5 Allowable member types per connections (page 66)
Is this a functional glitch on the side of RAM CONNECTION because I can recall vividly that both BS 5950 and EC3 cater for haunched connection design?
BS 5950 can design Beam Splice with tapered and hanuched members for a Bolted End Plate:
