This is the limit state I can't follow specifically the K and L factor derivation - can you please explain/show how these are calculated?
If you change the extension on the below file back to .rcnx it is a model with this connection in it.

Ah- I see. Now it’s just the question of where K is coming from.
Not air, but the total length of the clamped-together plates like figure 5-5.

Odd - so it's counting air in the buckling length? That doesn't seem right - I'd contend that the buckling lengths would be the portion of the gusset free from restraint - either the average on the centerline (A) or more conservatively the longer free edge (B):
