1) Why is STAAD not using the property I specified in the design, I noticed this is specific to WT section or sections cut from wide flange. Is there a way to force STAAD to use the sections I specified in the design? I have looked through the manual but couldn’t find an answer.
2) Also, if I select W8x16 and T section, STAAD assigns WT4X8. Why is this?
With respect to 2), you assigned a tee section cut from W8x16 beam. When you cut W8x16 beam into two parts, it comes two of WT4x8 members. That's why staad assigned WT4x8 instead of W8x16 tee section, which are actually same members. The same to 1)
If I am getting you correctly, so if I need WT8x16, I have to select W16X32 and check 'T' in STAAD. is that right?
