Error at STAAD Foundation Advanced. Please help me identify the cause. Thank you.Tagaytay Vacation House-r9_Foundation_foundation.sfa
Did you see this error message in the output pane:
It is because the column positions do not look right. Supports 8 and 10096 are separated by just 200 mm while the columns at those locations are 304.8 mm in size.
Another modification needed:
Load cases 1 to 15 must be removed form the "Selected Load Cases" list. meaning, the footing should be solved only for the combinations. To understand why, see the answer posted at the following discussion by Kris on September 3 2021 at 11:25 PM
Large Footing Design
Thank you for the explanation.Actually, this is an isolated footing for the shear wall. Did I do it correctly?
If you are looking for a way to model a foundation for a shear wall, and if the wall is monolithic with the footing, you first ought to create a superstructure model where the wall is modeled using a number of shell elements. Specify the supports of the wall as fixed so that support reactions would be generated from the analysis of the wall. Then import that model into SFA (or launch SFA from within STAAD.Pro), select all those supports and create a mat foundation. The reactions from the superstructure model would then be transferred as loads on the mat.
A combined footing would work but if there are more than 3 supports, a mat foundation is a better model.
